Prayers for Paris.

The Italian travelogue will have to wait.

Today my heart is so heavy for Paris I can think of nothing else.

The Eiffel Tower went dark last night in the city of light, and all the civilized world grieves for and with them. Sending prayers and light to them in their darkness.

So many innocents. The barbarians are truly at the gates.

We have a friend whose daughter lives in an apartment immediately across the street from one of the restaurants whose patrons were attacked. Unfortunately she witnessed the killings. Another friend has a daughter in Paris who is days from her date to deliver the first grandchild. Unbelievably, this is all striking very close to home here in the Midwest, in the middle of our country, where one hopes to feel safe. We have indeed become a global community, and good people must not sit by and do nothing against unbelievable evil.
