Making the Season Bright.

Here we are at the end of the first week in Advent. Lots of bustle in the preparation department – shopping, decorating, planning. Probably not enough bustle in the spiritual department. To help with that, I just downloaded an iPhone Advent App and ordered a book called Simply Wait: Cultivating Stillness in the Season of Advent. It seems the challenge is always to make Christmas and make time to experience Christmas.

But we’re getting there, thanks in large part to cooking and wrapping elf Ashleigh and decorating elves Julia and Grant. We couldn’t do it without them!

Friends, including Michael and Marie-Christine, joined us for a holiday dinner prepared to perfection by Ashleigh last weekend.

Victoria has requested animal photos, which is an easy task, since they insist on “helping” with all the holiday preparations. And this year, there’s one more little elf helping us deck the halls – Buster is bunking with us for a few weeks while his family is on their way to celebrate Tina’s birthday in Hawaii.

The dogs came along with us yesterday to get our tree.

And the CE put the lights up this morning, so we’re one step closer to being ready for the holiday. Our boys (you, too, Chris!) will be home soon and we are so excited!

We’re feeling so grateful for all this holy and happy season holds for us. Hope all you Polloplayer readers are enjoying the season!

  1. It looks absolutely beautiful, just like every year. Have a blessed season. XO

  2. Katherine says:

Where are OUR elves? It’s because you live in the northern part of SB, isn’t it?

I’m very impressed that you took the dogs to the tree-farm… Taking Karma would have meant withholding water from him for a few days. He still would have ended up with tendonitis from lifting his leg so many times.

Happy holidays! (And happy birthday Tina!)

  3. Helene Winter says:

Your tree looks beautiful, Marilyn. I hope you and Steve have a blessed Christmas. It looks like you are well on your way!
    Love and blessings,
    Helene

  5. pollo amigo says:

This is all far too hilarious! Chickens blending into the holiday decor, dogs posing in Santa costumes, a 14-legged tree-selection committee, the CE wearing lights… You definitely know how to accentuate the “merry” in Merry Christmas!

  6. Mrs. G says:

I love the Christmas tree committee! And Luna on the mantle! And Buster with his latest costume and Soho looking a little sad! Another entertaining post! xoxo

Great pics!! Love Luna with the decorations and love that Buster is fitting in and helping out 🙂 Thank you again for taking him while we are away… I just hope he will want to come home to a much less festive-looking household!
