“Chickens Make People Happy”

The good thing about being down for the count is that everything slows down. When you can’t do anything, you have time to do nothing. And I try to remind myself that’s not all bad. I read my latest copy of Backyard Poultry cover to cover today, and inside was a reference to a recent Martha Stewart “Chicken Show” (April 2, 2010). I don’t normally have the patience to watch Internet videos but today is a different kind of day. If you have time to spare, here’s the link: http://www.marthastewart.com/show/the-martha-stewart-show/the-chicken-show

Martha's "prop" looks like a dead - or rather live - ringer for Autumn

Martha interviews Susan Orlean, whose recent “The It Bird” article about her own experience with “hen fever” in The New Yorker magazine we mentioned here on Polloplayer last October. Orlean sums it all up in her interview with Martha by saying  “chickens make people happy”, and that they “are good for the soul”. I heartily second those emotions!  Martha also speaks with the founder of Mypetchicken.com and features a number of beautiful hens on the show, including one that looks JUST like Autumn!
