Hope

Here’s Hope at three weeks old. It’s getting harder and harder to take their pictures – they move so fast!!!! We’ve been fogged in here all week; no sun until quite late in the afternoons, so the chicks aren’t getting to go outside first thing in the a.m. as they (and we!) would like. They’re bored and letting us know about it.

Hope in run

Hope 3 weeks

Here is a photo of an adult Buff Orpington hen. Hope definitely has the color right – her feathers are a peachy gold. According to www.mypetchicken.com, “Buff Orpingtons were originally developed in the UK,  They’re friendly and cold-hardy due to their fluffy plumage. The Buff Orpington is the most popular and all varieties, especially the black and blue, are rare.”

Hear that? Hope is rare!

Hope is Victoria’s favorite of the chicks.

See, not the least bit afraid to hold a chicken!

"I'm not afraid - can I hold one???"

  1. Duke says:

The chickens may soon come home to roost, as we hope to finish coop “security” this week; installing steel bars over window screens in order to give the raccoons something else to work on.

  2. Oooooooooooooooooooh! Not long for us now.
