Ameraucana

ameraucana

This is one of the breeds we may get. Ameraucanas are popular because they lay blue and green eggs. True Ameraucanas are only available from breeders; the ones we’ll get from the feed store will probably be more appropriately called “Easter Eggers”.  They are originally from South America. Their temperament can vary from aloof to very friendly and easily handled. One source lists their personalities as “fun”. They come in a variety of colors, including Black, Blue, Blue-wheaten, Brown-red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten, & White.
